Working themes

Theme 1: Child protection & child rights governance

SEEP incorporates child protection issues through a number of projects in Dhaka. The major activities are complaint and response mechanism, receiving and resolving children’s complaint, involving local administrators and law enforcing agencies in the mechanism, establishing day care and night shelter for street children, protection from sexual abuse, child protection in emergency, training and module development on child protection, introducing code of conduct to the employers, distribute first aid box etc.

Theme 2: Climate action & humanitarian response

SEEP focuses on climate and disaster victims especially those are migrated in urban and semi-urban areas of Dhaka district and living with hazardous condition. Victims are forced to live in slum, street, under the sky and changed their livelihood pattern. After realizing the needs of the people, SEEP is implementing urban resilience projects in Dhaka, Savar, Narayangonj, and Cox’s Bazar. The major activities include community risk assessment, school safety plan, contingency plan, module development on DRR, CCA, CPiE, conduct training, awareness session, dialogue and workshop, and emergency disaster recovery support.

Theme 3: Education & skill development

SEEP is implementing a number of projects in Dhaka (Hajaribag and Mirpur, Shympur, Kutubpur), Gazipur, Narayangonj and Cox’s Bazar. The target group is working children, dropped out children and unemployed youth. The major activities include non-formal education, TVET, entrepreneurship, awareness raising etc.

Theme 4: Livelihood, food security & decent work

SEEP works on livelihood and food security through TVET, ensures financial support through microcredit, job placement, develop communication and negotiation skills, entrepreneurship development etc. Following the approved package by Bangladesh Food Security Cluster, SEEP has provided food assistant package amounting more than 13,205,360 BDT among the urban poor households in Dhaka North City Corporation and Savar Municipality to alleviate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

Theme 5: Health and nutrition

SEEP incorporates health and nutrition issues like first aid, specialized doctor’s treatment, nutritional guide, awareness raising session, linkage and networking with health service providers, health and hygiene materials applied, psycho-social support, organize yoga and meditation session, provide health cards through service providing organizations, mother and child healthcare, sexual and reproductive health rights of the street children, child day care support etc.

Theme 6: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

SEEP works in a complex and diverse environment of urban slums through various projects that bring safe water and improved sanitation, and promote hygiene behavior. SEEP is currently taking part in WASH activities at different slums in Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj. Our involvements include advocacy with Dhaka Water Supply Authority (WASA) to install water points at slums, garment factories and schools. We disseminate awareness message to the community people on hand washing techniques, importance of hygiene to protect from various water borne diseases.
